Music Lessons

Music Teacher Peter CramerMy lessons bring a balance of technique and theory that is directly applied to a very open-ended repertoire. I will suggest material, but love to work on pieces that the students bring to the lesson also. The idea is that we stay true to the foundations of music while having fun!

My curriculum changes depending on the instrument, style of music, and experience of the student, but can always be expected to include the essentials of improving as a musician and performer. Within 3-6 months, a student can expect to extend his/her knowledge of technique and theory, and listen to how those foundations, applied with practice, help improve their ability and confidence as a musician.

A large portion of my current students are pursuing beginning piano, but I love teaching voice and saxophone as well!

Voice Lessons

My major in college was jazz voice, but I have sung classical rep for most of my life as well. My voice lessons include a portion of formal technique, but I love to work on all styles of music.

Saxophone Lessons

I’ve played saxophone since the 5th grade, and studied classical technique for most of my earlier years. When I was about 16 I started getting into jazz, and through the years have been lucky to learn from some of the world's great practitioners of the art. My saxophone lessons are open-minded and fun and I love to help players find their own sound!

Piano Lessons

I’ve played piano since I was about 6, and love to teach the basics of music through the medium of the piano.

Everything you learn on a piano applies to all the other instruments, and I strongly feel development on the instrument drastically improves your musicianship in general, regardless of if you choose it as your primary or secondary instrument.

I teach piano up to an advanced level in both classical and jazz styles, but if you are playing Chopin etudes or slaying solos on All The Things You Are already and are looking for a teacher, I will recommend one of my friends who teach highly advanced students! I’ve taught piano from ages 4-65, so I love teaching all ages!
